Why timely care matters
Most falls happen at home, and the greatest danger is not the fall itself but the hours a person can spend on the floor before anyone knows. Regular care visits close that window.
Share of older people who fall at least once a year
Falls led to around 234,800 emergency hospital admissions in England in a single year among people aged 65 and over, and two thirds of those admissions were people over 80.
What studies found when older people fell at home alone
With planned visits, a fall is discovered in minutes or hours, never days. Our carers are trained to spot the trip hazards, medication effects and balance changes that cause falls in the first place, which is exactly the kind of prevention NICE recommends for older people at home.
Sources: around a third of over-65s and around half of over-80s fall each year, and 234,800 emergency admissions in England, 2019 to 2020 (NICE guideline NG249); 80% of people in their 90s who fell could not get up unaided and around 30% lay on the floor for an hour or more (Fleming & Brayne, BMJ 2008); around half of older people who lay on the floor for an hour or more after a fall died within six months (Wild, Nayak & Isaacs, BMJ 1981).

Yes. Aims Homecare is regulated by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) and rated Good. Every carer is DBS-checked, fully trained, regularly supervised and supported with ongoing professional development.
Continuity is central to good care. You will be matched with the same carer, or with a small and consistent care team, and we maintain backup cover so that someone is always available.
Care hours are flexible: a few hours a week, daily visits, overnight care or full-time live-in support. Plans are adjusted as needs change.
Visiting care starts from £22 per 30-minute visit (£28 for an hour), night care from £150 per night, and live-in care from £225 per full 24 hours, around £1,575 a week.
